CuteFAIL: Swarovski Character Pendants

Swarovski sells plenty of questionably ugly items.. but these character pendants, while trying to be cute and sparkly, fail oh-so-miserably. Jewelry is supposed to be elegant and pretty, not look like some 5-year-old’s bedazzle experiment. Even worse, they sell for $220-$260 each (charms and key-rings are $100) and seem to be popular enough to have renewed themes each season (currently it’s nature). I just cannot picture a grown adult actually wearing one of these..

Ford 021C, the Car Marc Newson Built

The Ford 021C concept car was designed entirely by Marc Newson (a furniture designer responsible for the shiny Lockheed Lounge chair). Revealed in 1999, it was apparently hated by everyone (combination of it being wildly different and Marc being an outsider) and filed away never to be seen again. Looking back at it now, the affordable, Pantone-inspired (021c was Marc’s favorite color), young, light and airy design is what cars are striving for today. Oh, and that protruding bumper is apparently an extended trunk area! I want one!

There’s a Penguin on my Marshmallow

The Telegraph has an amazing gallery of miniature food creations titled Art You Can Eat by Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle. Food and tiny figurines are imaginatively photographed to depict real-life settings with a whimsical twist.. like mining for sugar, sushi theft, and crème brûlée fire.

Adventure Time!

Adventure Time is an awesome cartoon created by Pendleton Ward (coming to Cartoon Network in 2010). And just so you know how awesome the story is, here are some quotes from the video below: “Wait dude, I’m connecting to the internet with my mind. (connecting noises) Check it out I downloaded a little dance“, “You want your booties? Yes please!“, and of course, “Penguins!“.

Scribblenauts DS Game, ManBearPig Approved

Scribblenauts is a rare breed of open-ended, do what you want video games that are only limited by your imagination. Pretty lofty aspirations are mostly achieved with 20,000+ possible items (like ManBearPig!), individual object behaviors/interactions, and a realistic physics engine. However, the game is plagued by faulty controls that are mainly a result of Nintendo DS being a small handheld with a stylus.. But decide for yourself by watching IGN’s video review after the jump.
