CuteFAIL: Swarovski Character Pendants

Swarovski sells plenty of questionably ugly items.. but these character pendants, while trying to be cute and sparkly, fail oh-so-miserably. Jewelry is supposed to be elegant and pretty, not look like some 5-year-old’s bedazzle experiment. Even worse, they sell for $220-$260 each (charms and key-rings are $100) and seem to be popular enough to have renewed themes each season (currently it’s nature). I just cannot picture a grown adult actually wearing one of these..

CuteFAIL: The New Astro Boy Movie

TheĀ  2009 Astro Boy movie is pretty much an abomination. The borderline-realistic 3D Astro Boy fails at translating the look of the vintage version and makes me earn for a simpler time when hand-drawing meant something. At least you can still watch all the original episodes on YouTube.

CuteFAIL: Nissan Cube

Nissan Cube

Nissan Cube

Nissan Cube, starts at $13,990

Following Scion xB and Honda Element, Nissan is releasing a cheaper and more boxy-looking (with rounded edges) transportation option. I have to admit, I was intrigued when the Cube first appeared on an episode of Heroes back in April, but mostly because I got the impression it might be an electric car. Not so! It’s really only fitting for hybrid/electric (Insight) or super-little (Smart) cars to look so weird. Personally, I’ll take the classic boxiness of vintage cars over the Cube any day!
