LEGO Rock Band

I’m a fan of the LEGO video games (LEGO Star Wars being the best of course), which is why I’m excited for this LEGO Rock Band variation. The game promises humor and family fun alongside the rocking out (you can customize your little characters and all the notes are actually LEGO bricks!). With music stars like David Bowie and Iggy Pop (who will VO the tutorials), the November release can’t come soon enough. View the running song tracklist here, and pre-order the game from Amazon to make sure you have it for x-mas.

A Boy and His Blob

A Boy and His Blob is a scrolling 2D Wii remake of the NES original. Pretty cute concept involves a blob named Blobert that changes shape depending on which flavor Jelly Bean you feed it. Release is set for October 13, 2009. Pre-order from Amazon and save $4.

Scribblenauts DS Game, ManBearPig Approved

Scribblenauts is a rare breed of open-ended, do what you want video games that are only limited by your imagination. Pretty lofty aspirations are mostly achieved with 20,000+ possible items (like ManBearPig!), individual object behaviors/interactions, and a realistic physics engine. However, the game is plagued by faulty controls that are mainly a result of Nintendo DS being a small handheld with a stylus.. But decide for yourself by watching IGN’s video review after the jump.

‘Beatles Rock Band’ Animations are Stunning

As a Beatles newbie, one of the easiest things to appreciate in Beatles Rock Band are the stunning animation sequences – the intro video is no exception. My favorite is the blue elephant rhino guy.. and, of course, the overall abundance of drug references.

PS3 Game Download: Fat Princess

$15.00 download for PS3 | Read Kotaku Review

Now, this is interesting! Cute, customizable characters run around killing each other and feeding their princess so the other team can’t carry her away. The multi-player aspect (and network lag) seems to be the only drawback and will hopefully be ironed out soon. Even so, the game is getting glowing reviews and is definitely worth checking out (video review below).

PS3 EyePet is the New Aibo

Augmented reality has been everywhere these days, but this is the first time I’m even marginally interested in the results. The PS3 EyePet looks mega-cute and seems really interactive & fun (check out the Kotaku review). The game comes with a (I’m sure very special) white card and will be sold with and without the PS3 Eye camera. Should be hitting stores this Holiday season.

Must.Eat.Birds iPhone Game

Must.Eat.Birds iPhone Game

Must.Eat.Birds iPhone Game

$0.99 at the App Store

Must.Eat.Birds might look like an innocently cute iPhone game, but it will certainly kick your ass if you’re not quick with your finger. The gameplay involves shooting monsters using a fork-made slingshot contraption (some levels have a set monster limit so you can’t just keep shooting aimlessly) at birds who are parachuting down to steal your precious picnic desserts. As levels advance, new types of birds appear that require more than one hit to eat. The gameplay definitely gets challenging and you’ll find yourself playing each level over and over to get a high rating. There are also cute sounds and Japanese music playing throughout, although the looping song wasn’t interesting enough to listen to for more than a few minutes. Priced at .99 cents, this little game will definitely provide a quick respite from the usual borring day.

And here is the trailer for the game:

Noby Noby Boy?

Noby Noby Boy (PS3)

Noby Noby Boy (PS3)

$4.99 at the Playstation Store (PS3)

Noby Noby Boy isn’t a game with much of a purpose, but who needs levels and missions when you have the genius of Katamari Damacy mixed with worm-like stretching? I can’t say I’ve figured out the best way to enjoy this game (while under the influence of mind-altering drugs perhaps?) – however, seeing ‘boy’ run around with his tiny legs while eating innocent (and weird) creatures around him gives me much joy.
